Utopia ISD

Utopia ISD officials have been closely monitoring the weather forecast, as well as consulting with local officials and neighboring school districts. The predicted forecast continues to show below freezing temperatures and dangerous road conditions through tomorrow afternoon. Due to these factors, and for the safety of our students, parents and staff, all Utopia ISD classes and activities are cancelled and all offices will be closed on we will remain closed on Friday, February 4, 2022. The students, parents, staff, and the community will be notified as soon as the coaches and other sponsors reschedule competitions. There are several options concerning how or if class time will need to be made up. That and other decisions will be made by the Utopia ISD School Board at the regularly held board meeting on Monday, February 14, 2022.

High School basketball games tonight will begin at 6:00 PM in Nueces Canyon. There will be only two games, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys. This is change from the original schedule.

5th grade conducted the running man experiment: Write on a smooth surface with an Expo marker; then slowly add water. The shape lifts and floats and moves the water. If you draw a stick figure, it will appear to be running.

BASKETBALL UPDATE The High School Varsity games WILL be played in Rocksprings today beginning at 4:00 PM. The Junior High games have been cancelled. Starting the Varsity games at 4:00 PM will allow the athletic bus to be back in Utopia early. Speaking with the Rocksprings administration, the roads are dry and there is no moisture on the ground. The forecast currently does not call for any precipitation and the temperature is predicted to stay above 32 degrees until the early morning hours. Games for tomorrow night's homecoming are still scheduled to occur as planned.
