We’re excited for an awesome school year and loved seeing everyone today! If you missed this morning’s assembly, here’s the important information we covered. School Health Updates All medication must be in the original container and delivered to the school office by a parent. Students are not allowed to carry medication (even to drop off). Students with asthma require a doctor’s Asthma Action Plan. Cell Phones & Devices (House Bill 1481) No student use of cell phones, smart watches, tablets, headphones, or earbuds during the school day—including lunch & passing periods. Only school-issued computers may be used. Devices must be stored in backpacks, lockers, or left at home. No exceptions for instructional use. Parents who need to reach a student should call the school office. Students may use the office phone to call home if needed. Attendance Good attendance is essential for student success. Absences require time to catch up before new learning continues. Please schedule appointments on Fridays or late in the day when possible. Students with less than 90% attendance will be required to attend tutorial days. Utopia ISD’s attendance goal is 96%. Visitors to campus All visitors must present a driver’s license at the office and receive a visitor badge. New this year: Your license will be held at the office until you leave. Please check out, pick up your license, and return your badge before leaving campus. Student’s parking on campus Students must submit the required parking form, driver’s license, and proof of insurance (copies made by the office). Once complete, a parking spot will be assigned for the year. Drop-Off & Pick-Up Morning drop-off begins at 7:25 AM (when teachers are on duty). After the first week of school, parents may not enter the playground gate. You may wait with your student outside the gate, if needed. Afternoon pick-up: PreK & Kinder: 4:05 PM All other grades: 4:15 PM Use the car loop for active pick-up only—please do not park in the loop. Any changes in a student’s routine must be called in by 3:30 PM to 830-333-9989. Have a good evening Buffaloes! Julia Mazurek Principal, Utopia School
